Want a tour of Parliament?
I can arrange individual or group tours of the Houses of Parliament (known as “Line of Route Tours”) for constituents. If you are interested, please ring my parliamentary office on
020 7219 2828, or e-mail me at rammellb@parliament.uk
Each tour generally includes (security and chamber sittings permitting) the Royal Rooms, the House of Lords and the House of Commons. If you are thinking of planning a tour,
you should bear in mind that:
-
At present, tours are only available on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
-
On Friday, tours are available all day if the House of Commons is not sitting, and in the late afternoon if it is sitting.
-
There will be no access to the House of Commons chamber for tours starting after 09.20 on Wednesday mornings.
Want to watch a debate or attend a Select Committee?
If you wish to watch a debate from the Public Gallery of the House of Commons I can obtain tickets for my constituents. Each MP is allocated two tickets
about once a fortnight but it is sometimes possible to secure additional tickets if necessary. Again, if you are interested, please ring my parliamentary office on 020 7219 2828, or e-mail me
at rammellb@parliament.uk.
If you are interested in attending a debate, you should keep in mind that:
-
The House of Commons usually sits Monday to Thursday (and occasionally on Friday’s.)
-
It is much more difficult to obtain Gallery tickets for Prime Minister's Questions (on Wednesday at 12 noon). MP’s are allocated two PMQ tickets
approximately three to four times per year only. It is therefore not possible to guarantee PMQ tickets for any given Wednesday. If you wish to watch PMQ’s you will therefore need to be
flexible about the date and contact me as far in advance as possible.
Unless specified otherwise, Select Committee evidence sessions are usually open to the public. Committees meet throughout the week but not usually on Fridays. Places are limited and there is no
system of tickets or advance booking.
Directions
In most cases visitors should go to the St. Stephen's Entrance, where they will be shown by the Police to a queue, or directly up to the Public Gallery or Committee Room as
appropriate. St. Stephen's Entrance is at the centre of the Palace of Westminster, opposite the east end of Westminster Abbey. Some Committee meetings are held in Portcullis House, above Westminster
Tube Station.
The nearest Underground Station is Westminster.
Buses - 3, 11, 12, 24, 53, 77A, 88, 109, 159, 184 and 511.
Car parking is not available for visitors; there is, however, a Masterpark car park (fee) off Abingdon Street (near Victoria Tower). This is often full and, as meter parking around Westminster is
scarce and expensive, visitors are advised to travel by public transport.
